How to play Twin Planets Duel

Red sits at the top of the screen next to a red planet. Blue sits at the bottom next to a blue planet. Each ship slides left and right along its edge and fires straight toward the other side.

Every hit on your opponent scores one point. The first player to land five hits wins the round. When you start a match, you choose between two formats: First to 5, or Best of 3, where the first to win two rounds takes the match.

Three drifting rocks cross the middle of the screen and swallow shots, so a clear line isn’t always open. Two shots that meet in the air also cancel each other out. Power-ups appear on the field every few seconds, and you grab one by flying into it:

  • Triple shot: fires three bullets in a spread.
  • Fast fire: shortens the wait between shots.
  • Shield: blocks the next hit that would land on you.

Triple shot and fast fire last about nine seconds. A shield stays until it takes a hit.

Tips to get better

  • Don’t sit still. A parked ship is an easy target. Keep drifting, then stop for a moment to line up a shot.
  • Use the rocks. A rock drifting between you and your opponent can protect you. Stay behind it and pop out to shoot.
  • Grab power-ups when it is safe. A shield is worth a detour. Triple shot is worth more when your opponent is cornered.
  • Shoot in rhythm. Shots have a short cooldown, so hammering the button wastes nothing, but timed shots land more often.
  • Watch the shots, not the ship. Look at where a bullet will be when it reaches your row, and move out of the way early.
  • Aim at where your opponent is going. If the other ship is moving right, shoot a little ahead of it.
  • Keep your shield in reserve. Pick one up, then use it as a buffer when the score gets close.

Which mode to start with

If you’re new, play 1 player on Easy. The Easy bot moves slowly and doesn’t dodge, which gives you time to learn the movement and the power-ups. Move to Normal when you win comfortably. Hard reacts fast and aims well, so expect a real fight.

When the bot gets boring, grab a friend. Two players on one keyboard is where this game is at its best: one hand cluster on A, D and W, the other on the arrows.

Best of 3 gives the loser a way back, which makes it the friendlier choice for a mixed-skill pair. First to 5 is a single sprint, so every hit counts.

Twin Planets Duel runs in a normal web browser with no download, no install and no account. It is an Aizi Original, made for this site.

Can two people play on one keyboard?

How do I win a match?

Hit the other ship five times to win a round. You can set the match to First to 5, or switch to Best of 3 so the first player to win two rounds takes it.
