Hextris Unblocked: Play Free Online

Hextris is a fast color puzzle: blocks fall toward a spinning hexagon, and you turn it to stack matching colors. You can play Hextris unblocked right here: it loads in your browser with no download, no install and no account. Aizi itself runs no ads, and you can play Hextris online free whenever you have a spare minute.

How to play Hextris

A hexagon sits in the middle of the screen. Colored blocks fall toward it from every direction. Your job is to turn the hexagon so each block lands against a side that makes sense.

4block colors
3+same-colored blocks in a row clear
P / Spacepause

When blocks of the same color line up three or more in a row, they clear. Blocks of different colors stack on top of each other and slowly build up around the hexagon. If the stack grows past the edge of the play area, the game is over.

There’s no real “win”. You play for a high score and try to survive for as long as you can. The speed picks up as you go, and waves of blocks arrive from several sides, so you need to watch more than one lane at once.

A combo timer rewards you for clearing blocks in quick succession. If you clear again before the timer runs out, you build a combo and score more per clear.

Tips to get better

  • Think about where a block will land, not where it is. Rotate early. A block falling toward the left needs the left side of the hexagon aimed at its lane before it arrives.
  • Keep stacks even. A tall stack on one side leaves you no room for mistakes, and you lose track of what is there. Spread blocks around the sides.
  • Match colors on purpose. Look for two same-colored blocks and make the third one land beside them. Clears come from planning, not luck.
  • Use Down to save time. Holding it speeds a block up, which is useful when you already know where it belongs.
  • Don’t spin wildly. Quick, short taps are easier to control than long presses. Each tap is one step around the hexagon.
  • Watch the whole screen. Blocks arrive from several directions and the next wave can be worse than the one you’re fixing.
  • Chase combos. Chaining clears is where high scores come from. Plan the next clear while the combo timer is still running.

Playing with a color problem

Hextris uses four colors, so a color-blind mode matters.

How to build up your skill

  1. Start slowlyYour first few runs are about learning which way each key turns the hexagon.
  2. Think in colorsOnce the rotation is automatic, you can think about colors instead of keys.
  3. Read aheadGood players don't react to the block in front of them. They look at the next two or three blocks in other lanes and plan a rotation that serves all of them.

Aizi's tip if you keep losing at the same point, pause there and look at the board. Usually one side has filled up with mixed colors, and the fix is to stop feeding that side.

Short runs make Hextris a good break game. A round takes a couple of minutes, and you can restart in a second.

Common mistakes

  • Rotating at the last second. A block that is already touching the hexagon is too late to redirect. Turn while it is still on its way down.
  • Feeding one side only. If you keep dumping blocks on the same side, that stack is the first to hit the edge. Share the load around the hexagon.
  • Clearing the wrong stack first. The tallest stack is not always the most dangerous one. Look for the side where mixed colors are piling up with no clear in sight.
  • Over-tapping. Extra taps send the hexagon past the side you wanted. Count the steps before you tap.

Phone or keyboard

On a keyboard, the arrow keys or A and D give you precise, one-step turns, and the Down key helps you drop blocks quickly. On a phone, tapping the left or right half of the screen works well with a thumb on each side. Both are fine, so use whichever feels steadier to you. If your thumbs get ahead of your eyes on a touch screen, slow down and make fewer, cleaner taps.
