How to play Progress Knight
You start as a penniless beggar with a lifespan of 70 years. The game shows your age, a day counter, your coin balance and your income and expenses per day.
Time passes on its own. At any moment you have one job and one skill active. The job earns coins and job experience. The skill earns skill experience. Level up a job and it pays more. Level up a skill and it boosts other things, such as how quickly you learn or how much the military pays.
Jobs come in three families:
- Common work: Beggar, Farmer, Fisherman, Miner, Blacksmith and Merchant.
- Military: Squire, Footman, Veteran footman, Knight and on up to Legendary knight.
- The Arcane Association: Student, Apprentice mage, Mage, Wizard, Master wizard and Chairman.
Skills are grouped as Fundamentals, Combat, Magic and Dark magic. A skill such as Concentration speeds up skill experience, while Strength raises military pay.
The Shop tab sells properties, from a tent to a palace, and items such as a book or dumbbells. Better housing and gear boost experience, but they add to your daily expenses.
When your character gets old, you rebirth with the Amulet tab. You lose your levels and assets, but you receive XP multipliers based on how well that life went. The next life moves much faster.

There are no key shortcuts to learn. Tooltips matter a lot here, because they tell you what a job or skill needs and what it gives.
Tips to get better
- Keep a job and a skill active at all times. A day with nothing selected is wasted experience.
- Watch your net income. The top of the screen shows income and expenses per day. If expenses climb above income, your balance starts to fall.
- Train Concentration early. It speeds up skill experience, so it makes everything else faster.
- Don’t buy every upgrade at once. Housing and items add to daily expenses. Buy what you can afford and what pays off.
- Flip on Auto-promote and Auto-learn. These switches in the top area move you up to better jobs and skills for you, which saves clicks.
- Rebirth on time. Don’t wait until your last year. A rebirth gives you multipliers, and a well-timed one lets the next life be much faster.
- Check requirements. Many jobs and skills ask for levels in others. The tooltip shows what you’re missing.
Why the first hour is slow
Progress Knight is an incremental game, so early progress feels slow on purpose. You’ll earn a few coins a day and spend almost all of them. The second life is quicker because of the multipliers from the first, and the third is quicker again.
Think of each life as an experiment. Try the military path in one life, the magic path in the next, and see how the numbers differ. The Dark magic skills are the most unusual part of the game and unlock after you meet certain requirements, so explore them once you’re comfortable.
Time warping is a Magic skill that raises game speed, and there’s an Enable warp switch on the main screen. Once you unlock it, you can speed up the slow stretches.
