Hoops VS Unblocked: Play Free Online
How to play Hoops VS
Hoops VS is a head-to-head reverse basketball game by Golem Kin Games. Instead of throwing a ball into a hoop, you control the hoop. If you wanted Hoops VS unblocked, it runs in the browser with no download.
A ball sits on a spring at the center of the court. Each player controls a hoop on opposite sides of the arena and boosts it up and sideways to catch the ball first. It is a physics-driven game, so your hoop swings and falls according to physics, not on rails.
The controls are two taps. Tap left to boost your hoop left, tap right to boost it right. Every tap sends the hoop up and sideways, so you steer by choosing which side to tap. When the ball is above you, you need to time boosts to reach it.
The game is tagged as both 2 player basketball and 1 player. When you start, the first screen shows what is available.

| Boost hoop right | Not documented | Tap right |
Tips to get better
- Use small taps. Every tap pushes the hoop up as well as sideways, so a quick series lets you hover near the ball.
- Watch the ball, not your hoop. The ball on its spring bounces, so aim for where it will be.
- Stay below the ball. If your hoop goes above it, you cannot catch it from below.
- Do not overshoot. Because boosts go up and sideways, big sideways moves also lift you.
- Let gravity help. If you are above, stop tapping and let the hoop fall toward the ball.
- Block your opponent’s path when you can. The ball and hoops interact with physics, so crowding can help.
- Practice patience. A calm tap rhythm beats frantic tapping.
Why it feels so different
In normal basketball you move a player and throw a ball. In Hoops VS you flip that: the ball is the target and you are the goal. That shift is enough to feel fresh, even with only two inputs.
Physics drive everything. The hoop does not stop when you stop tapping, and the ball sits on a spring, so it wobbles. Reading that wobble is the skill. Wait for the ball to rise, then meet it.
Because the controls are simple, matches feel fair. A beginner can learn them in seconds, and it is the timing that separates players. Take a few practice rounds to find out how much one tap moves your hoop.
Your first few rounds will probably be messy, and that is normal. Boosting a hoop up and sideways at the same time means every correction also changes your height. Instead of reacting to the ball, try to predict it: where will the spring send it next, and which side do you need to be on?
The two-input design also makes Hoops VS a good short game. There is no menu of power-ups or loadouts to think about. You can start, tap, and see who catches the ball. There is a daily leaderboard and an option to save progress if you log in, so you can compare scores if you want to.
It plays in both landscape and portrait orientation, so you can play Hoops VS online on a phone held either way. English is the only language.
Left and right taps are the only controls, and the game shows anything else on its first screen.
Common mistakes
- Tapping too fast. Rapid tapping sends your hoop high above the ball, where it can only fall. Count a short rhythm and stay below.
- Chasing instead of waiting. Racing across the court after a moving ball usually ends in an overshoot. Hold your position and let the spring bring the ball to you.
- Staying on one side. If you only ever tap in one direction, you drift into the wall. Alternate left and right taps to hold your place.
- Ignoring your rival. Their hoop is as much a part of the physics as yours. Watch where it is heading before you commit.
A first session plan
Begin with a few rounds just to learn how far one tap sends the hoop. Try one tap, then wait and watch where the hoop settles. Next, practice hovering: a left tap, a right tap, a pause, and repeat. When hovering feels natural, start moving toward the ball in small steps. With a friend on the same screen, agree to a short best-of series so each round stays quick and friendly.
